MoreWe moved to Conifer 11 years ago – we looked at a lot of homes, many were really nice Mountain Homes but no views… After looking at 16 homes, we found this one – my wife did not like this house, but loved the views.I told her, give me 8 to 10 years, and you will say, “I love this house”…
After we moved in I needed to put a deck on this home – (who would build a home with these views, and not have a deck!)…
I asked neighbors and found Gray Eagle Builders – I met with Don and explained that we were going to have The Siegel Schwall Blues Band here from Chicago in a few weeks – could he get the deck built by then, and make certain it would hold 100 people or more… He did it!! Beautiful Redwood, professionally done (and even done in severe thunderstorms!) It would start to pour rain, Gray Eagle would go into the garage and wait for the rain to pass (not like some contractors that would just call it a day!) – They got my deck built in time and on my budget! The Siegel Schwall Party was AWESOME!!
After the deck, I had Don come over to take a look at my basement – I wanted the pole removed as it was right in the center of the basement – Don’s Structural Engineer and Architect drew up plans and got the county’s approval – it took Five (5) Steel Beams to replace 1 Pole!! I also had them put an addition onto the back side of the basement for a workout room – now the basement is our Master Bedroom.. Again, Don’s team came through, on-time, and within my budget!
When we bought the house, it had an old fashioned wood burner in the living room – although it was nice, it wasn’t our taste – we had Gray Eagle install a SCAN Fireplace – Absolutely Beautiful! And, 2 fires in that unit – the entire house is warm. This work was not only done on-time, and within our budget – we have realized a tremendous savings in our winter heating bill – this upgrade has more than paid for itself…
Next on the 8 to 10 year plan was my Recording Studio and 6 car garage. I was amazed watching this thing get built – a concrete pad 75 x30, and a 2 story structure with Stucco and Glass… It’s an Amazing Recording Studio – and again, Gray Eagle came through!!

Don ls a great contractor with great attention to detail and quality.
Gray Eagle Builders did a major remodel of my kitchen/great room. The work took months and involved a wall removal, another wall moved, window reconfiguration, new harwood floors, fireplace installation and many more smaller jobs.
Don is a great contractor with great attention to detail and quality. He and his subs were in my home for months and it was always a pleasure as they were friendly and respectful. He had strong professional connections with expert craftsmen who gave my home unique and customized touches.
The quality of work was excellent.

Don does a great job start to finish.
My husband and I are repeat customers of Don's. He supervised/coordinated the construction of our 2 story garage and he has also helped us with remodeling projects. He does a great job start to finish.

Since I live near Conifer it was very hard to find a quality contractor I could trust, and now I will never call anyone else. They've done several jobs for me, including a huge, 4-car attached garage, which entailed many challenges due to the steep angle of the roof, an existing deck that had to be reworked, and a very unique window problem. Don and his crew are always a genuine pleasure to work with. They are ultra-professional and very good at everything I have them do. They're on-site and on-time every time they're scheduled, and they clean up after each day and keep the worksite very neat. They're very accommodating and thorough, both in planning and execution of the job. Gray Eagle Builders and Don's Team will move mountains to make sure it's done correctly and withing the budget. Best choice ever!
We moved to Colorado two years ago and decided something crazy. We wanted to build from the ground up. We didn't know anyone or anything about the area or building and someone recommended Gray Eagle builders. Best choice ever. He helped us through the entire process and answered all are annoying and stupid questions. He was very professional and kept our needs and desires forefront in his mind, often making helpful suggestions we hadn't even thought of. Our new house is beautiful and well-built. We love it!

I’m a stickler for quality and everything hit the mark.
I can't say enough good things about Don. From beginning to end of the edition (more like a new house really) his attention to detail and his professionalism impressed the heck out of me. I am from the construction and architectural field so I went in with high expectations and wasn't disappointed. Not counting all of my changes of mind along the way Don stayed in budget. I'm a stickler for quality and everything hit the mark. I had virtually no issues in the following years which would be expected with new construction. I think the key is Don's picked the right subcontractors, but of course quality often means paying a little extra money which I think is worth it.
All in all a great experience. I used him for another seven years with small projects and with home maintenance along the way as it was a vacation home for me.
